Being a person who is always eager to share his experience and knowledge, Pouben did not hesitate for an interview with Fishing Tips Moris.

With the humble but mighty 'golet banbu', Pouben's fishing experience began in the fresh water of Mare aux Vacoas, at the age of 8. His family and parents used to gather there to relax and have a good time. He used these occasions to experiment fishing.

On the other hand, Pouben's initiation to salt water and offshore fishing was made through his cousin, a member of the national coast guard. At that time, fishing was all traditional with the bamboo rod. As early as this age, Pouben wanted to innovate on the traditional methods.

However, as Pouben started his secondary education, he got interested with other hobbies and fishing was put aside, only temporarily.

Solid and consistent fishing outings began when Pouben entered the working world. With his innate inclination for fishing and his enthusiasm to share his experience, he quickly made new fishing aficionados among his colleagues. Things went even better when he joins Orange Business Services in 2011. He met with Yahya Gopaul and other persons sharing the same fishing spirit. From this point onward, his love for fishing went crescendo never to stop. Pouben's knowledge comes from a mix of experimentation, research, practice and networking.

There was a time when Pouben used to take the bus to Flicq en Flacq for fishing. Early in the morning with bearly no people around, the whole beach was for him. He enjoyed this atmosphere and had time to experiment, practice and learn in a calm surrounding. An event that has always stayed in Pouben's mind is one of his first Trevally from the shore of Flicq and Flacq, a 8 lbs fish, which he proudly transported back home in a shopping bag. The Trevally was still alive when he got out of the bus at Quatre Borne. It was the first time that Pouben bring such a big fish home to the great surprise, astonishment and joy of her mother.

Pouben vividly remember his first generic rod and reel package bought at Game Trianon. Later, he opted for an Okuma rod and reel. At the same time, around the year 2005, he discovered online shopping and a whole new world of equipment and possibility opened to him. He bought his first Shimano rod and reel - a Sienna 4000 and an FX. Later purchases includes a 8ft Daiwa Crossfire rod, a Shimano Sedona and a Penn Battle reel.

At the same time he came to know the existence of lures and braids which he immediately took advantage of. He also came across the various fishing techniques which he readily experimented and put in practice. NZ fishing was one of youtube channel (now a well known channel within the community) that further motivated Pouben in his fishing quest.Pouben came across Ashwin, who has now become Pouben's fishing buddy and a great friend. Actually, we came to know Pouben through Ashwin. With a similar sharing-mindset and a willingness to take amateur fishing at a higher level, Ashwin readily pointed us to Pouben and explained that his love for fishing orginated through this connection. With this goodwill, they started a Youtube channel, PA Mauritius Island Fishing which will indulge the viewers into fishing. A must watch and a very promising channel!

The fishing continues even better... Tight lines to Ashwin and Pouben and we hope for even greater content on their channel!
